Some Cricket !!

Some cricket, Some cricket, Some cricket, Some cricket, Some cricket, some… plzzzzzzz

This is wat most of cricket fans had been crying for more than last 10 days, but in vain. Lets start with Unitech Series wich was scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka. This series was imp for varoius reasons, Sri Lanka’s gr8 ongoing form, India beat Sri lanka 6-1 wen they last played. and wat more the return of Sachin Tendulakar. Every 1 had eyes on him, as his present form is the indicator of india’s ne chance in world cup to be held next year. Wat do u need to disrupt some event ? A BOMB ?? yaa, this is wat happened. a powerful bomb explosion in colombo, resulted in South Africa returning home. Indians and Lankans have strong immunition to such tiny bomb explosions. aftr all wat is the ultimate aim of terrorirists ?? to create terror. clearly their effort proved to be a mockery in front of indians. wat more u need to disrupt ur day ?? RAIN, in my childhood days rain was a gr8 fun, escpecially geting wet in rain, cycling in puddles with muddy water, paper boats and wat not. The recent rains jus make me prey

Rain rain, go away

Come again another day

Little master wants to play

But Indradevta seemed to be too busy to hear nething from me and many more and whole series was washed in rain water.

That was wat was not in man’s control. But some recent incidents in this sport really raised so many questions.. Yaa i am takin abt Pakistan-England Series. With england already winning the series 2-0 with the powerful bowling of Harmisson and Monty Panesar, they got a easy win in 4th test. While pakistan had a strong position in final test , the sporting ground turned into a drama stage. Wen a delivery swinged too much from pakistan bowlers, umpire Hair chked the ball and suspected the ball had been tampered by Pakistan players and then finally anounced 5 run penalty on Pakistan team and also ball was changed. It was too much for Inzy and after the tea wen English batsmen and umpires came to ground, to their surprise none of their Pakistani players came 2 ground. wen chked it was reported tht they hav locked themselves in dressing room. finally Hair bailed off the stumps, awarding the match 2 England. Later Pakistani players came 2 ground but tht was too late. This incident really has raised a lot of unanswered questions. Wat did Hair saw wat none of the 2 dozen camaras were unable to shoot or was it a usual Hair wid his anti-subcontinet attitude. He has already been accused of such incidents in his past. Lets see wat ICC DISCO finally decides…….

Chronicle of events

A lot has happened since my last post, so i thought of putting one. Today IIIT celebrated its first Carnival and i am sure tht it wud also be the last one. I am not pessimistic but my past experiences hav made me think this way only. e.g Amalgam was held in 2003 and not again. Attempts were made to organise the event but in vain. The problem not lies in the lack of enthusiasam the people have, but wat u get bak in handling such events successfuly. If u r made 2 organise such an event u wil probably never dream abt doing it again…,,Reasons:- u r exhausted by the painful formalities of reimbrusements, no or negative support, mixed feelings by faculty, and wat more u become centre of controversy. and all in all u lose the gud image u enjoi in the eyes of faculty(if u really hav)

i really congratuate ug2k4 for orgainisng a ful row of events nicely, but they hav not disclosed the reason for such an event(its like organising a meeting without deciding an agenda). this event was preceeded by fresher’s night. sadly or may be quite ok to say, i didnt attend either of these events. to be frank these fun events make sense wen the insti’s environment is soothing and it really helps 2 conduct such things. after the bad ragging episode and its aftermaths espicially the harsh punishments to so called accused, i generally refrain from such events. The chance of landing in some problem is higher than ur self being enjoyed. On ragging issue i think the authorities shud come up wid strict YES or NO, and avoid the greys, so tht ppl are not foiled in vicious circles and eventually land in trouble.

Regarding IIIT academics a lot has happened. to list at the top, Dr. Kamal has taken the post as Dean Academics. He took the post after our favourite orator Dr. Govindrajulu took the post of Outreach Division. Some other changes include Dr. Harjinder Singh taking the post of Hostel Administration(he has granted us the permission of playing cricket in OBH ground after BLN created problems). This semester is pretty cool for me, just in matter of no. of courses. I hav LP, Industry, Middleware and BTP. Middleware is a PCO, Industry is a HSSM. so not much of study, but BTP is too much for me. and also midsem datesheet is out, declaring only 1 exam(LP), it means i am finally in final year :)

TIME mock cats going really bad for me, and i hav 2 improve a lot and a lot 2 even dream of getting a call. Harminder and Alankar going 2 well and are almost sure to get all six calls, if they continue wid their gud form. Maalik is not to far, and jus need to produce a litle more. ppl keep it up :) best of luck

Quite recently two great personalities visited IIIT and i had the privelege to attend their talks. They were Dr. Raj Reddy and Dr. Sham Navathe. Former is the famous Turing Award winner and later is Dr. Kamal’s Phd. Advisor and also the author of DBMS book wich we ppl follow. It was really gr8 to amongst such great personalities. Apparently Dr. Raj Reddy was to delver a talk on placements and assumed tht final year students are already placed :P but later Dr. Sangal enlightened him tht placements are too far. I sometimes feel sad tht i am stil not placed, while rest of my frnds in other colleges proudly call themselves as XYZ[Satyam], ABC[Accenture] etc. lets hope we ppl also get placed soon and tht also handsomely :)
