To be sick is Sick !!

 

It was a fine Friday morning and the door bell ringing, i tried to wake up, but something prevented me from getting up. I slept again without much concern. I think almost two hours passed and someone was banging my door, I tried to get up, but I was again sent back. A current of pain spread through my body. This time I tried to figure what is preventing me from going to office. It is not Monday that I want to keep my weekend going. Soon I figured out that it was my leg which was preventing me from getting up. With some twists and experimentation i found I couldn’t bend my right knee !!

Thinking of usual muscle pull or something like that, i went late to the office and by afternoon it was clear that it is nothing normal. Situation had not improved with pain-relieving sprays and crepe bandage. I decided to visit a nearby doctor for treatment. I entered the clinic limping with a weary look and pain traveling through out the body. First question: Hello, How are you ?? I seriously had no answer to such a question, actually I was amused why did he ask such a question. If I was all well, why the hell should I visit him. I just tried to smile from tearful face for a long time. Then the doctor said, so “things are not well, right ?”. As per his advice I went to the hospital next day for further examination. This itself was a bad experience in itself. After the inconclusive X-Ray scans I was recommended admission and to have a MRI Scan. With almost 30 hours after the MRI, no doctor came and neither the MRI report. After getting impatient, I complained the nurses for pathetic treatment. They said “Why didn’t I tell before that I want to see a doctor ?”. I was taken back, if I was not to see the doctor then why I was in a hospital. After exchanging harsh words with them, I had a talk with the doctor on phone. He promised to pay a visit to me next day. After some diagnosis he asked me, “Now How many times should a doctor should see me ?” I was, “I hope I never have to see a doctor again in my life, but If I am in a hospital, i would like to be treated rather than lying untreated/unnoticed”.

 

A week passed in the hospital, my knee was getting better. But the doctors were still not sure what had triggered all this. Since medicines and other treatments were working, they didn’t care to find the cause. They suspected the MRI report and called it weired. Now I am almost well, but still clueless what I was suffering from. With each day in the hospital, I was recovering physically but I was going down mentally. I was frustrated to a new low. Really to be sick is very SICK !!

To end the sorrow post on a humorous way, here is  a sick joke

A doctor of psychology was doing his normal morning rounds when he entered a patient’s room. He found Patient 1 sitting on the floor, pretending to saw a piece of wood in half.
Patient 2 was hanging from the ceiling, by his feet.
The doctor asked patient number 1 what he was doing. The patient replied, “Can’t you see I’m sawing this piece of wood in half?” The doctor inquired of Patient 1 what Patient 2 was doing. Patient 1 replied, “Oh. He’s my friend, but he’s a little crazy. He thinks he’s a light bulb.” The doctor looks up and notices Patient 2’s face is going all red.
The doctor asks Patient 1, “If he’s your friend, you should get him down from there before he hurts himself”
Patient 1 replies, “What? And work in the dark?”

It’s Breaking News

News channels are really blaring with breaking news all the day around and there is a movie coming up with the name “It’s Breaking News“. Below is a funny excerpt from such a news channel covering “No News“

The NDTV ace anchorman Pranoy Roy began “We take you to Nair who is waiting to give on-the –spot coverage of the proceedings at CWC head quarters. Over to you Nair.”
“Thank you Pranoy. I’m standing outside the main gate of the Congress head quarters. It is quiet here. Four DTC buses passed northward in the last half an hour and two private cars passed southward. The traffic outside is proceeding smoothly without giving a clue to the outcome of the crucial CWC meeting on Indo-US Nuclear deal. Delhi is agog with rumors that nothing is likely to come out of the meeting. A senior congressman who talked on the condition of anonymity said he had no comments to offer. But another party spokesperson said that he would neither confirm nor deny that nothing is likely to come out of the meeting. There is a tremendous excitement because nothing is happening.”
“Thank you Nair. We shall revert to you soon. Let’s go over to Sheila who is waiting outside the CPM head quarters. Sheila, what have you there?”

“Good morning Pranoy. The situation is very fluid and nobody wants to talk about it. Jyoti Basu was first to arrive, followed by Buddhadeva, Sitaram Yetchury, Bardhan and Karat. The sequence of the arrival, some say, carries a great significance though the party spokesman tried to down play it. There was a flutter when the news broke out that there was no water on the tap at the premises. The CNN and BBC reporters rushed to interview the tea-boy but he was closeted in an all-important emergency meeting with the kitchen staff. So Pranoy, the moment I get a confirmation that nothing is likely to happen I shall get back to you.”
“That’s good work Sheila. Let’s go over to Deepika who is outside the Sonia’s residence. Can you hear me Deepika?’
“Yes Pranoy, I can.”
“Can you confirm that nothing is happening at Sonia’s residence?”
“Well, Pranoy, Sonia’s residence has been a bee-hive of activity since morning. The Prime Minister visited the place at 8’oclock in the morning. Singhvi has been in and out several times. Mani Shankar Iyer is in right now. The phone rang thrice in the past 30 minutes and it is not known who spoke to whom. Sonia’s car is parked in the compound but the driver is not available for comments. But it is reliably learnt that he had a worried look on his face when he drove the vehicle into the parking area. Sources close to driver say that he will be here soon unless he IS cornered by the BBC reporter for a quick fire interview at the traffic signal near Connaught Place. No further developments have taken place. Any questions, Pranoy?”
“No Deepika. Keep up the good job. To round up, this is Pranoy bidding you good bye with news, that the situation on the nuke-deal front continues to remain fluid. Join us on a further update at 11 o’clock tonight.”
